Reflections on Moke Lake in New Zealand
Driving from Queenstown to Glenorchy we saw a sign for Moke Lake and we decided we were going to stop off on the way home. It was a long day near the end of our trip as the sign approached again and we nearly didn’t turn in. What a mistake that would have been… Moke Lake New Zealand has reflections TO DIE FOR and golden grass for miles!
We stopped off before the car park. There was no one else near us so we took a walk down towards the lake. Granted I definitely didn’t choose the best spot to stop but I wonder if you can really get a bad photo there?
This place was incredibly quiet and beautiful and definitely somewhere I would recommend visiting! The Lake was like glass and the reflections were just… Incredible! The drive in is fun and a real little country road, sheep and cows everywhere. We walked down towards the lake and typical New Zealand style they have these cool little steps over the fence – Can’t say I have seen them in Australia… Maybe we have smarter sheep?
After taking some photos of the lakes reflections we headed back into the golden grass for a couple of selfies of course! Whilst I may look calm and relaxed in the photo let me assure you there was some running back and forth to get the image just right and get in position just before the shutter clicked. I think I may have to invest in a cordless remote shutter.
Moke Lake New Zealand would be one of my top recommendations to visit if in the Queenstown region. I have seen many Astrophotography shots taken from this location as well which look amazing!
